Does my getting ready location really matter? || Tips for the best getting ready photos on your wedding day!

You might ask yourself, “Does where I get ready the morning of my wedding really matter that much?” My answer? YES. Here’s why:

When you walk into a room, that room usually makes you feel some type of feeling. Is it dark and cluttered? Is it bright, clean, and airy? If I were Marie Kondo I’d say, “Does it spark joy?” (lol)

You might not think this matters too much, but on your wedding day you want to feel as happy and stress-free as humanly possible. The space that you choose to get ready in can really impact that feeling, either good or bad. Now I know that sometimes you’re forced to use whatever space you can. BUT here are some tips to implement to make it real good – for your sanity AND to get the best getting-ready photos + video possible.

  1. WINDOWS. ALLLLL THE WINDOWS.

    • If the room has a ton of big windows bringing light into the room, that right there makes for absolutely stunning photos. Open the curtains/blinds/EVERYTHING and let in as much light as possible.

  2. GET RID OF THE CLUTTER

    • I know it’s hard when there’s makeup/clothing/shoes/literally anything and everything scattered everywhere. Ask your bridal party to keep their things in one spot and tidy. I spend a lot of time moving things out of the way to get a clear photo of your dress hanging up or you putting that dress on. It’s time consuming and sometimes I’m unable to move everything in time, which results in a busy/distracting background.

  3. CONSIDER RENTING AN AIRBNB

    • your venue doesn't already provide a getting ready space, consider renting an airbnb for your wedding. There are some SUPER beautiful airbnb’s out there with beautiful light and simple decor.

Here are some prime examples of a good getting ready space:

All in all, I will make whatever space you’re able to get ready in work! I hope this helps you to find a space that makes your heart sing on your wedding day. After all, the getting ready portion is half of the entire day! Make it a space that inspires you and keeps you stress free.
